If long distance touring on a motorcycle is your thing, than the 2019 BMW R 1250 RT Tourer could be the perfect machine for you.

For 2019, the brand has updated the bike with a larger capacity engine, which now makes 136 horsepower. As BMW is known for, the engine is a twin-cylinder Boxer that uses a variable camshaft control system called BMW ShiftCam.

The 1250 makes good strong torque down low and delivers smooth power all the way through its rev range. Helping to get the power down safely are a number of different drive modes such as rain, normal and performance.

These will cater the traction control system and throttle response to suit different situations perfectly. Other riding technology includes hill-start assist, helping to hold the bike when taking off on a hill. ABS is also a standard part of the package here.

In the name of safety, dynamic brake control has also been added, capable of overriding the throttle in an emergency braking situation and turning up the pressure on the rear wheel.

So how does the entire package come together? And do the new electronic systems get in the way? You’ll have to watch the video above to find out.
