This game is squarely aimed at side-by-side enthusiasts.
Gaming isn’t an industry we normally cover on TFLoffroad, but when a fresh-looking off-road racing game is announced, it’s worth sitting up and taking notice. Overpass, a game where players control a range of quads, side-by-sides and other all-terrain vehicles, looks like something of a mashup of mainstream racing games.
Sure, any simulator won’t give you the adrenaline of really getting out there. But we can’t necessarily all afford $28,399 for a Polaris RZR XP 4 Turbo S, can we?
The game makes players traverse 40 demanding tracks. Along the way, there are steep hills, tricky obstacles — basically what you would expect when you head off-road. Overpass uses licensed models from Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Suzuki, according to developer Zordix Racing’s release. Other realistic features like differential locking, 2 or 4-wheel drive and multiple transmission types are also making their way into the game.
Overpass also sports a Career Mode, which lets players manage and tune their vehicles for different tracks and terrain types. You’ll also have to win races to attract sponsors and make your way to better vehicles. Naturally, as this is a racing game, online multiplayer will likely take center stage.
Check out the announcement trailer above. The game’s release is currently scheduled for October 2019. When it does come out, it will be available on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
