Kawasaki has a new 999cc powerplant on the way for 2020, the question is, where will it end up?
Documents submitted to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) by Kawasaki, found by ATV.com, confirm that the brand has certified a new 999cc engine for the “KRF1000AL.” The most exciting aspect is the power, which CARB says comes in at 112 horsepower.
That’s plenty of power for the upcoming sport side-by-side from Team Green, but the letters don’t match up. The KRF designation has always been associated with the Teryx, and based on a patent filing, we believe that the new sport machine will be named the KRX.
It’s also certainly possible that this same engine will go into both machines, but only time will tell.
We will be live at the reveal of the new sport side-by-side from Kawi on Oct.7, so make sure you come back to TFLOffroad.
