The 2020 Ram Rebel can now be had with diesel power, but exactly how fuel efficient is this off-road truck?
That’s what we set out to discover, and to do so, we ran two 100-km loops. The first was unladen, with the most of the kilometers coming on the highway, while the second loop saw a four-place snowmobile trailer hooked to the back of the truck provide some resistance.
The EPA rates the Rebel EcoDiesel at 21 mpg in the city, 29 on the highway for a combined 24 mpg (9.8L/100km). In two-wheel drive form, those numbers get even better, going up to 32 mpg on the highway and 22 in the city.
As half-ton pickup go, those are fuel sipping numbers, especially compared to the thirsty 5.7-liter HEMI V8 also in the Ram stable.
Also affecting fuel economy on the Rebel is about a 1-inch lift and a set of 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, both of which should make this truck burn some more fuel.
So how exactly does it do? You’ll have to watch the video above to see the Rebel in action.
