The Suzuki Jimny is already one of our favourite pieces of forbidden fruit and one UK firm is making these little off-roaders even more tantalizing.
Suzuki Jimny Pickups is based in Cleobury Mortimer in South Shropshire, and takes low mileage examples of the Jimny and adds a custom made pickup bed. New or old doesn’t matter, as long as the Jimny is a good condition low-mileage example.
The outfit claims that buying one of its converted trucks brings along factory-quality fit and finish, and the photos certainly suggest this to be true.
To convert a Jimny, a new rear metal bulkhead panel is fitted behind the occupants along with a heated rear window. New plastic mouldings are made for the side of truck to help it visually flow nicely into the rear pickup bed. Those beds are stainless steel and aluminum, and each features a spot for the fuel filler on the driver’s side.
Older Jimny models used a 1.3-liter gas engine, while the updated Jimny makes due with a 1.5-liter engine making just over 100 horsepower. Weighing in at just 2348 pounds, the Jimny is light and nimble, making it a great off-roader. Add selectable four-wheel drive and a low-range transfer case and these little trucks look unstoppable.
