The brand new Land Rover Defender has hit the streets for the time in the United States.
After being gone for about 23 years, the Defender is back for sale in the US, though initially it will offered be offered as the four-door 110 model. Land Rover says that US retailers will receive an initial supply of vehicles and that deliveries will be limited at the beginning.
The 110 comes with a base price of $49,900 in the US, though of course most of these models will be selling for a lot more than that.
Two different powerplants will be available in the US for the Defender, either a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that puts out 296 horsepower, or a six-cylinder mated to a supercharger and turbocharger to make just under 400 horsepower.
A number of different accessory packages will be available for the Defender, preparing this SUV for all types of lifestyle situations. The four packages are known as Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban.
It’s exciting to get such a famous off-road nameplate back in the US and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel and put this new Landy to the test.
