Ford is rolling out a new trio of off-road focused packages for the Ranger midsize pickup and each offers its own list of upgrades.
The Ranger FX4 already offers a basic midsize off-roader from Ford, coming from the factory with off-road shocks, all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, front and midship skid plates and off-road driving modes including trail control and terrain management. These new packages from Ford performance kick things up a notch, with each building on the subsequent level.
Go for the first level of the Ford Performance kit and the truck gets a leveling kit from FOX suspension that includes new Performance Series internal floating piston monotube shocks at all four corners. The truck also gets Dyno Gray Wheels and Ford Performance graphics on the windshield and bedside. Level 1 will set you back $2495.
The second level kit builds on all of the upgrades available in the first kit along with a Ford Performance engine calibration that cranks horsepower up to 315 and torque to 370 lb-ft, a set of BFGoodrich K02s, Rigid off-road fog lights, blue tow hooks and a stainless steel license plate frame. This package sells for a total of $4495 before installation.
Finally, Level 3 brings along the ultimate off-road Ranger currently on sale from the dealer, outfitting the truck with a 40-inch LED lightbar, red tow hooks, an ARB winch-capable front bumper, chase rack and a sport exhaust. The total cost of this kit is $8,995 before installation.
Both level one and two will be available through your local Ford dealership by August of 2020, while the level three will be available starting in summer of 2021. All of the upgrades can be had for both the 2019 and 2020 Ford Ranger.
